Global Prayer Guide
“I am sending you to [the nations] to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins” (Acts 26:17-18, NIV).
The 10/40 Window
Worldwide prayer initiative that focuses strategic prayer on the spiritually impoverished area of the world known as the 10/40 Window. This imaginary rectangle extends from 10o north to 40o north of the equator, stretching from Western Africa to Eastern Asia. While people in the West have an excellent chance to be exposed to the Gospel many times, those living in the 10/40 Window have almost no chance of ever hearing the Gospel—even once. The 10/40 Window is the greatest remaining stronghold of Satan.
PRAYER POINTS
This eight-step guide for personal and corporate prayer will help penetrate the spiritual darkness in the 10/40 Window nations. Use this as you pray daily through the calendar.
1Release the Spirit of Adoption.
Ask the Father to draw the unreached to His Son (John 6:44) and to pour out His Spirit of Adoption on them(Romans 8: 15). Pray that churches and mission agencies will adopt remaining unreached peoples for prayer and outreach.
2Pray for the Transformation of Peoples. Ask God to convict people in the Window of the idolatry that is a barrier to the entrance of the Gospel (Exodus 20:3-5).
3Pray Against Fear.
Many unreached peoples in the 10/40 Window live in fear of spirits and demon powers. Pray for the binding and overthrow of the powers of darkness which hold them captive. Pray that people will know that Jesus is more powerful than all demonic powers (Colossians 2:9).
4Pray for the Politically and Economically Oppressed.
Pray for the global Church to be a voice for the persecuted, politically oppressed and powerless (Isaiah 58:6). Ask
God to give Believers compassionate, generous hearts to serve them and creative ideas to develop economic opportunities for the poor.
5Pray for the Protection of Believers.
Pray Psalm 91 over the small number of Believers in the Window. Ask God to bless them with divine favor, protection, and boldness to spread the Gospel even to those who are culturally and socially different.
6Pray for the Women and Children.
Ask God to protect the children and women in the Window, many of whom live under extremely oppressive conditions, such as genital mutilation, denial of education, and slave-like working conditions (Isaiah 54).
Pray for the intervention of the authorities in the breaking up of criminal rings exploiting children in pornography, prostitution and child labor.
7Pray for the Salvation of Leaders.
Pray that political and religious leaders of the Window countries (I Timothy 2:1-3) will encounter Christ through dreams, visions, Scripture, and contact with Believers. Pray for integrity in government and for leaders to rule in reverence of God and the love of their people.
8Pray that God Would Thrust Forth Laborers into the Harvest Field in Great Number.
Pray for the JESUS film, literature distribution, Christian television and radio efforts to penetrate new areas and people groups.
